A fabulous fragment taken from a much larger Baskets quilt. The blocks were made circa 1870 with the sashing added when it was finished into a quilt circa 1910. Hand pieced baskets with hand appliqued handles in a wonderful solid cheddar orange contain hand appliqued solid Turkey red flower buds, orange multi petaled flowers with Turkey red centers, and over dyed green leaves and stems. Such gorgeous, early fabrics used on this piece! Embroidered embellishments on each flower bud add a special touch.

Entirely hand pieced, appliqued and quilted. We've added a 3/8" applied binding in a same date white cotton to frame the piece. The backing is the same white cotton as used for the front. Quilting patterns used are outline, echo outline, and parallel lines. A wonderful fragment in the perfect size for a wall hanging. Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
