In wonderful condition, this striking deep indigo and white antique quilt has been created in the Rob Peter to Pay Paul pattern also known as Lemon Peel. This particular rendition is angular or geometric in its design making it quite unique. It has been beautifully pieced by hand with each block measuring 7 x 7 inches. The central design is surrounded by a wide 8 inch border comprised of different indigo fabrics which indicates the quilter was using up what she had but was still from an affluent family who purchased fabric for quilting rather than using ‘scrap’ fabric.

The backing is white linen which folds over to the front forming a very narrow 3/16” binding stitched down by hand. Quilting is done in both blue and white linen threads in diagonal parallel lines and chevrons throughout. A lovely, deep indigo and white antique textile that would be a lovely addition to any quilt collection or an amazing first quilt! Professionally hand washed by Betsey.
