What a find for antique fabric lovers! An incredible array of cotton fabrics from the 1870’s to the 1890’s make this unused antique quilt extra special. This hand made quilt contains the structure and order you expect to see in a Log Cabin Barn Raising pattern. This beauty also has wonderful positive energy from the exuberant variety of colors and patterns in the fabrics the quilter chose.
Turkey red chimneys 2 ½” square form the bright center of each 9 ½” cabin block. Logs are ¾ inches wide with an amazing 20 logs making up each cabin block. This summer weight quilt has no middle batting. The construction method is foundation pieced on muslin fabric. The individual log cabin squares were then carefully stitched together. The muslin foundation fabric forms the back side of the quilt and shows each delicate stitch used in the creation of the quilt. A ¼ inch hand executed binding is the same Turkey red as used in the chimneys – lovely!
A beautiful example of the Log Cabin Barn Raising pattern in perfect, unused condition! This quilt is ready for use on your bed or would be equally as stunning as art for your wall. Professionally hand washed by Betsey and ready to be shipped to you on approval. |
