Coming directly from the family, including an actual photo of the
maker...all information released upon purchase.
This captivating Flag quilt was created in 1918 and auctioned in order
to raise money for the war effort. Black Stocking religion was practiced
by this family and meetings were held in their basement. The husband of
the maker purchased this quilt in order to keep it in the family. Now
this quilt is available to be purchased as a spectacular addition to
one's collection of patriotic American memorabilia or for the discerning
quilt collector...An amazing addition to the art displayed on one's wall.
The 5" folky Stars are hand appliqued onto the patriotic blue
background. Each point is then tied with a hand executed cotton knot.
The red and white stripes are 5" in width and are machine pieced as are
the pillowcased four edges. The backing fabric is muslin.
This quilt was lightly used and then packed away for over 100 years.
There are a few spots that I see, but they do not detract from this
incredible piece of Americana.
