A beautiful early cotton quilt in excellent condition in the much loved and sought after Feathered Star pattern. The addition of an appliqued border on three sides gives it a folk art flair and brings this already magnificent quilt to the next level. Entirely hand stitched with 'feathers' made up of mini 3/4 inch triangles as part of large feathered stars measuring approximately 15 inches across. Hand pieced stars are comprised of a lovely light Prussian blue and white mini calico, over dyed green calico and white. Madder dyed calico diamonds and 4 patch blocks in chrome yellow and over dyed green calicoes join the lovely stars together and make a stunning graphic statement.

The three sided border is executed in chrome yellow and over dyed green calicoes for the undulating vine and leaves hand appliqued onto a solid brown ground measuring 5 3/4" wide. The hand applied 3/8" binding is the same chrome yellow calico cotton. The backing is a lovely 'bricks' print in brown, taupe and white on a brown and white speckled ground. See detail image.

A beautiful color palette and a wonderful pattern that became the maker's own with her addition of a folk art border. This quilt would be magnificent graphic art hung on the wall or a spectacular quilt used on your queen sized bed. Professionally hand washed by Betsey this gorgeous quilt has some hard to detect shadowing in a few blocks which does not detract from its beauty.
