Silk quilts are usually a mark of affluence. This quilt is no exception, with a silk wholecloth rich Lavender backing. Packed away for over 100 years and now ready for a new home as an amazing piece of textile art for your wall.

The blocks are not what you would think, but 7-1/2" on each of the 6 sides of a hexagon block! The piecing is made up of one whole block surrounded by six half blocks, creating the larger pieced block. Each log has a 5/8" width with lengths from 1-1/4" to 3-1/4". The center of each Spiderweb is made up of 6 triangles measuring 1" on each side. All Spiderwebs are joined with a 7/8" black silk strip. The outside border measuring 2" is created from a very sophisticated raised weave silk fabric. A 1/4" at the inner edge of the outer border is embellished with gold silk stitching. There are hundreds of different calicos, plaids, stripes, and solid silk fabrics used to create this stunning quilt.
