CONAM1 Hawaiian Quilt

A mint condition Chintz quilt almost 200 years old! Fabric back then
was meant to last forever..we were not a throw away society..a "green"
world before that was a known concept. The fabrics are a hand painted
block print on a very fine cotton with the backing being a very fine Linen.
The LaMoyne Star blocks measure 8" x 8" with the joining blocks
measuring the same. Measuring 7" is the exquisite Chintz border. The
1/8" binding is turned over from the back to the front with minuscule
stitches so perfect they appear to be machine work. That would be
impossible as the sewing machine was not yet available.
The hand painted block print used for the blocks is different from the
border. Both of these prints are exquisitely designed and were created
for the most discriminating and affluent woman.
The quilting is over the top! On the star blocks there is diagonal
style quilting 5/8" apart with the Chintz pieces having a continuation
of the diagonal style crosshatched design. The joining blocks are filled
with a wreath design filled with double line crosshatch quilting so tiny
one has to be amazed at the patience and talent needed to accomplish
such a masterpiece.
I am happy to send this quilt on approval ...this quilt must be seen to
truly be appreciated.
