A spectacular quilt created using a very early dark purple that almost
looks Indigo. Ocean Waves is a design that, understandably, shows up
created near the sea.
Hundreds of Triangles measuring 2" X 2" X 2-3/4" are used to comprise
this very graphic and captivating design. Pieced and quilted by hand
which is typical of a quilt of this era and this level of artistic ability.
The joining blocks measure 8-1/2" X 8-1/2" and are beautifully quilted
with a wreath design, cross hatch quilting in the center of the wreath
as well as the corners of the blocks. The quilting stitches are so tiny
that they almost look like dots! The crosshatching is 1/2" apart.
The perimeter of the quilt is quilted in a meandering vine pattern with
double line quilting following the center of the leaves. Around the
vines the background is completely filled with a crosshatch design 1/2"
apart. The border itself is 8" including the 3/8" separately applied
binding in a compatible midcentury deep purple.
