CONJS19 Cornucopia / Whig Rose Variation Quilt

This is a beautifully made 20th Century rendition of a 19th Century Album Quilt. The dyes are no longer vegetable dyes, but chemically created giving us a totally different pallet of colors. In the 19th century expert quilters wanted their applique stitches to be invisible or almost invisible. I feel that in some of the 20th Century quilters wanted their applique stitches to show and would make them as perfect as possible. The quilting is as fine as many of the 19th century..perfectly even and tiny. Applique stitches are seen and for the most part are nice, even and precise.

A nine block design is seen here consisting of two different designs, some facing in different directions. The Horn of Plenty or Cornucopia design symbolizes both beauty and abundance...while the center is a variation of a 19th Century pattern perfectly executed. There is a wonderful meandering Vine and Floral border..a rendition of a 19th Century border that would have spanned the entire length of each side.

The quilting pattern is a 1" diagonal grid that covers most of the quilt around the appliques. There are two rows intersecting of a meandering vine pattern with acts as a graceful delineation between the appliqued blocks. There is a whole cloth white backing in the same fabric as the front. A 3/8" binding is turned over from the back to the front.

This is a mint quilt..never used and never washed...now ready for your home..sent with free shipping, for your approval.
