This visually captivating silk Crazy Quilt come directly from the family. All information will be provided to the next owner of this quilt.

Created from 20 ap. 12-1/2" x 12-1/2" hand created and embellished blocks. This quilt is in perfect condition and has been packed away for 150 years. Quilts such as this one were made as embellishment to the heavily embellished Victorian homes. There are Crazy Quilts on all levels of expertise...this one was created by a master of the art and also very creative.

The mark of excellence in a Victorian Crazy Quilt is 100 different stitches...this is easy to see on the piece of art. There are also original design and at least one that I cannot figure out how she created it. We also have the American Flag...more important today than ever as a symbol of peace, prosperity and inclusion. There is a Japanese flag created from a miniature Crazy Quilt...a first for me to see. We see hand done oil paintings, embroidery on a highly proficient level, creative stitchery, exquisite fabrics...which brings up another area...one of sociology. Silks were very expensive until the 1890's when silk manufactures cheapened them...fewer threads per inch plus lead to make the fabrics seen as the quality of earlier silks. Unfortunately the lead caused the silks to disintegrate over time. This quilt was created before that time from beautiful silks, silk ribbons and silk thread. We have flowers, Japanese fans, oil paintings, birds, an anchor, a very unusual face from fabric and so much more.

This Victorian treasure is ready to be send for approval with free shipping....for a place as art on a special wall.
