CONSS2A Rare Amish Nine Patch Crib Quilt with Double Corner Blocks
c.1920
40 x 40 inches
Lancaster, Pennsylvania
$3,400
Unused Amish crib quilts are indeed a treasure. Graphically wonderful,
amazing colors, and a true collector's piece. Double four corner blocks
take their quilts to another level. This is an all cotton quilt
created in the c.1920s. It measures 40 x 40 inches. The outside corner
squares measure 9" x 9". The separately applied binding measures
5/8". The deep chocolate outer border measures 9" x 21-1/2".
The inner corner blocks are 2-1/2" square. The inner border measures
2-1/2" x 16-/12".
The squares in the nine block configuration
measure approx 1-1/4". The medium blue sashing is 1-3/4" in width.
The backing is a medium gray. As is typical of Amish pieces, it is
machine pieced, but exquisitely hand quilted. We have feathered vine
quilting. In each of the small corner blocks there is an echo quilted
heart. There are also meandering vines, zigzag quilting, and cross
hatching. All quilting stitches are small and perfectly even. This
precious little quilt can be sent to you for your approval, with free
shipping.
