CONSS4 Amish Early 20th Century Crib Quilt
c.1910
31 x 38 inches
Lancaster, Pennsylvania
$1,100
I am not sure what to call the design of this early crib quilt. If
anyone knows, I would love you to share it with me. As with all Amish
quilts, this rare design crib quilt is machine pieced and beautifully
hand quilted. The fabric is wool challis, and comes with some original
moth holes. The separately applied binding measures 3/4", and is a
black wool challis. The outer border measures 3-1/4", with triple
zigzag quilting, with quilted hearts between each section. The inner
border measures 1-1/2", and is quilted with a leaf design. The
inner squares are on point, and measure 5" x 5", and are outline
quilted. The backing of the quilt is a deep blood red. All colors on
the front are very deep and rich. As a piece of art, personally I do
not notice moth holes, but this is why I send everything on approval
with free shipping, so you can see for yourself.
