What an unusual design and not easy to execute. Appliqued and reverse
appliqued using Turkey Red fabric, over-dyed Green and a tobacco dyed
green that has washed to a khaki color. Tobacco dyed green starts
losing its color as soon as it is washed..even with just water and no
soap! The stitching is perfect and the fabric expensive, telling us that
the maker was from an affluent family.
The backing is linen as are many of the pre 1865 quilts created from
families of means.
A rare and very unusual design that is also a wonderful size for that
hard to decorate area. Now organically hand washed and ready to be sent,
with free shipping, for your approval.
