This very sophisticated Sunshine and Shadows Log Cabin Quilt appears to be in unused condition.
Very generous in size, measuring 82 x 84 inches, this quilt will completely cover the top of a
king size bed or will fit a queen size bed perfectly with 12 inches over the sides.
Made around 1875, many of the fabrics date back to the 1840s.
This quilt comes from Maine and appears to be in unused condition.
The binding is a 3/8 inch hand applied binding.
The whole quilt is foundation pieced and made in a method that is indigenous to New England.
It's foundation pieced in squares with extra backing fabric, then the squares are sewn together.
This is a summer coverlet, a quilt withouit batting. You can use it all year.
You can use this quilt in the summer instead of a blanket or use just a sheet with it,
and in the winter it's perfect over a down comforter or any other kind of blanket, giving you warmth.
This quilt's design and colors are stunning. It's graphic and would decorate a wall in a great
room exquisitely, or would be absolutely gorgeous on your bed.
When looking at this quilt the first color I notice is red, turkey red, and then after that there are
blues, more red calicoes, and browns. It's basically reds, blues, greens and browns, and it is gorgeous.
