Very rarely am I able to procure a mint condition Depression era quilt.
At that time most of America needed to use what they possessed. Well,
this is one of those exceptions. A mint quilt means never used and never
washed. This fresh quilt had to be stored very carefully for almost 100
years.
Comprised of 10 inch blocks alternating between solid pumpkin orange and
a colorful variety of 1930's prints. The result is a quilt that embodies
happiness! Pieced and quilted by hand. The design in the pumpkin
orange blocks emulates a spiderweb...guess the pumpkin orange color is
on purpose!
Each piece of the schoolhouse block is outline quilted as well as around
the perimeter of each block. The quilting is abundant.
The 3/8" binding is turned over from the back to the front and closed by
hand. This is a method that was used in the South and West, but not the
Eastern part of our country.
