Early 19th century was very expensive. Affluent families could afford
fabric of this quality.
The fabrics used here are an early Turkey Red Calico and an overdyed
green calico. Each wreath measures 16-7/8", the flowers measure 4" with
a 1-1/4" chrome orange center. The foundation fabric is a fine
linen. These exquisite, never quilted, blocks are perfect to quilt one
or all three...or 3 with plain linen blocks between and have a larger
wall hanging or table runner.
